About us

We have 3 young children and we spent a long time living abroad when they were young. We lived in countries where good quality wooden toys, games and educational products were widely available and affordable.

It was obvious that these toys lasted longer and looked much nicer than many of their other toys. We also observed how much our children enjoyed the toys and the creative play that they could inspire during the first critical years of development.

Since then, we have found that parents in many countries are more interested in wooden toys and less interested in plastic and electronic toys. Although they may be cheaper, they have limited play value and often break quickly.

Furthermore, they limit the amount of Creative Open-ended Play which is necessary to develop the mind of the child during critical windows of accelerated development which are common in early childhood. These are windows of opportunity for parents and educators to provide the best possible learning environment.

Discoveroo products are designed to encourage more Creative Play. They stir up the imagination but the outcomes are not predetermined. This leaves the child to explore the possibilities and develop their mind.

They are always Natural and Simple. For young children, seeing how a toy works is an important part of understanding the world. The natural materials stimulate the senses in a way that processed materials cannot.

Almost all of our design is done in-house and where necessary, we work with local artists to develop graphics.

Our products are sold around the world and of course in Australia.

We source our products from carefully selected manufacturers in China. These factories have ICTI certification to demonstrate their safe and fair work practices. We also visit the facilities frequently.

We work hard with them to ensure that strict quality and safety criteria are met. The products are tested for all the markets they are sold in. Our standards exceed the toughest safety standards in the world AS/NZS ISO 8124, ASTM F963, US CPSIA 2008, Canadian Hazardous Products (Toy) Regulations.

We sell through different channels including selected retail outlets and direct to the public through this site.
